Commencing Phase Two

My spare room is FINALLY painted! Thanks to Tanya's flood renovations, I fell for the Terracotta Tile colour she used in her laundry room and used it in one of my spare rooms. It took me about 5 hours tonight but it is all done!!! I am tired, my back is sore, but I feel that sense of accomplishment. It is a good feeling.
What does that have to do with scrapbooking and creating, you wonder? It means I can start working on my Fruit Salad project - yay! I still have to take pictures of my two nieces but I think I will be seeing them on the weekend ... yay again! Hopefully I will get the paper (Magnolia) and be able to get started next week. I am so excited. Hopefully my fingers can create what my mind is picturing!

Finding my *Inner Elsie*

A task that was none too easy, I might add!! This challenge was given by Katie (aka Kataroo). After looking at Elsie's sketches, I decided to give it a try. For the blog readers that don't know who Elsie Flannigan is, she is an artist who, for the majority, has left the scrapbooking world in awe of her one-of-a-kind and full of life creations. Her personality shows through in her layouts and has left her admirers wanting more. To see work from Elsie, check out her gallery on Two Peas. You can also read about her on her blog.

I am most definately not loving this layout it. It does not exude the personality and style that I had wanted nor does it give off that fun loving feeling. Looking at the finished product from a different view (and proper lighting - ugh!) the ric-rak is definately the wrong shade. Oops. C'est la vie. My biggest challenge was the title. So simple to some with its unkempt appeal, it was drawn freehand - - a first for me. No pencil, no erasers. (ok ... I started with them but gave in and just went with it) Just results. I don't feel that I have found my inner Elsie as of yet however, I shant be defeated!! My next layout I will become more Elsiefied!!! :-) tfl.

More Photography Fun

Here is another member of the Fruit Salad. This is Connor and he is a Grape. Right now he is preparing for the world of big brotherhood. Two more nieces to take photos of then I can begin the project that is flying madly in my head! I can't wait!
